Today our playgroup went to the Natural History Museum in SLC. It was free today. (I'm still debating if free admission days are really worth it) There were so many people there today, it was crazy. Luckily my two kiddos were great and we had alot of fun. I can't wait to go back on a quieter, slower day. The Museum was much better than I was expecting. Their new facility is top notch and most of the exhibits were interesting.
Josie and Todds favorite place was the "Backyard" exhibit. Its a very small kid play area. I thought it was a pretty sad exhibit. Plastic animals behind glass walls, pictures of animals in the bottom of the water, and fleece vests sewn into animal costumes. Not very high end like the rest of the museum. But of course its the kids favorite place regardless because it is hands on.
Here is Josie in the cave where you cans see snakes, spiders and other bugs. (All plastic toys you can find at the dollar store!)
Josie and Todd in the Dino footprint
The Dino exhibit was by far the best in the whole museum.
Very cool!
Todd did not like walking on these glass see-through floors. But Josie and I
thought they were a really neat display.
So many dinosaurs!
Digging for bones
I always love to see the gem displays! Makes me want to go buy jewelry!
They had beautiful gems, but not alot of them.
(yes, we were allowed to touch this one)
Josie loved seeing all the butterflies
Todd did not love seeing any of it. But he was still pretty good.
I found the Lake Bonneville stuff very interesting and it was a favorite with the kids
The fact that they were skulls didn't bother Josie at all
Yes! We got one picture with all of us! Darn, its blurry.
Josie checking out the stars in the middle of the afternoon ;)
Back at the kiddie area before heading out
Josie and some of her friends, Lizzie and Katie, trying on the costumes.
Since Josie was a frog, she decided she needed to eat the bugs
And Todd thought he'd help too. Yummy grasshopper
After 3.5 hours at the museum we are headed home!
I think they liked it :)
hahahahahahahahaha i love it!
