Pioneer Day

Bountiful 24th Parade
My Grandparents were in charge of the parade this year, they did a great job!

My dad was in Arizona moving my brother, so Mom joined us for the parade.

Bear Lake Birthdays (and family reunion and 4th of July)

So much to do!
We had quite a week planned for the 4th.
It started with a Watkins Annual Swim Party (Joe's Mother's Family) at the Logan pool.
Every year we get to have dinner at Willow Park, then swim at the reserved pool. This year the party was on the same night as the fireworks so they had to scratch their Annual Firework Party and just have one really fun night with everyone. My kids, and by that I mean me, were too tired to stay for the fireworks but we enjoyed the other festivities!

Josie turned 5 this year! I can't believe it. She gets to start kindergarten I August, and she can't wait!

My little man Todd turns 2! And he has the tantrums to prove it!
Josie and Todd with their Aunt Kayla and her friend Taylor
Todd never last too long swimming, especially when its past his bedtime. But he can eat any time.
The two Jocelyns! Josie and Jocelyn (Joe's cousin's kid) were born in the same week and given the same name. They had a lot of fun together at the pool.
Todd's middle name, King, is from his great-grandpa Reynold King Watkins.
Grandpa was also Joe's inspiration for becoming an engineer, and is himself a world renowned buried pipes expert.
Josie got to ride the slide several times with her uncle Kev.
Todd went once with Grandpa Brad but they went under the water at the end and I think they were both done with the slide after that.
After a good nights rest at my mom's house it was the 4th of July! So we went to Angie's for a breakfast celebration with Joe's parents and Kayla.

Then it was straight up to Bear Lake for us! Joe's family joined us in the afternoon.
Finally! The Hawkes' family arrived. It was time for a few presents and a birthday song.

That evening Joe's parents treated everyone to a play at Pickleville Playhouse. Unfortunately Todd was not interested! So during intermission he and I headed back to the hotel for bed.
Day 2 at Bear Lake. This time it was my family coming to hang out. Rem and Lea's family made it, then Jake and Robin, then Mom and Dad.
Josie just wants to be a mermaid
No better way to get the sand off than in the pool :)
This is what Josie calls "FOUR THUMBS UP!"

Her swimming lessons paid off, she loves being under the water now
Ahhhh. Exhaustion.
But we aren't done yet...
Josie and her uncle Prince Jake
We rented a kayak for an hour and it was so fun but if the guys got on, it would take on too much water. Joe and Jake actually tipped it once. That was hilarious. We rented a Jet Ski too, but I don't know where those pics are.
Me and my little sis Robin. Sure wish my other sis Kate had been there.
Jake and Bean - glad they could get work off for once and spend the day with us!

More birthday celebrations!
Josie and I - July 4th
Todd- July 5th
Isabel- July 30
Tommy - February... well we couldn't leave him out
Grandma was kind enough to bring a present for all the kids. Fishing poles!
That evening when the kids were all sleeping the adults, and Jake and Robin, played scum.

Last Day at the lake
Todd and I just enjoying a quiet moment.
Getting our mini golf on
Eventually we made it home, but we weren't done celebrating!
We still had to give Josie and Todd our presents since we couldn't take them with us to bear lake. The kiddos were also having a pirate birthday party for all their little friends too.

Todd got a little tikes truck. He loves it. There is a set of twin girls down our road that have the pink little tikes cars and Todd will take off in their direction if he gets the chance. So we knew he would be happy with his own.

We also installed a slide in the backyard. I had wanted one all summer and the birthdays were a good excuse.
For Josie we decided she needed a new bed. I wanted one that was off the ground high enough we could put her Barbie house under it, but not too high that I had to worry about her getting hurt if she fell off. It also needed to be about 9 inches shorter than a standard twin. So to get all of this just how we wanted it, we had to make her a loft/fort bed.
The boys made the bed, including completely original plans, and I sanded and painted it. It was quite a project and of course took too much time, but we love the finished product and so does Josie!

All done! (except the ladder still needs painted)

Talk about one heck of a 4th of July week! WHEW!
