Lagoon! Just the girls

Last year I got to spend some time at Lagoon with just Josie, and it was such pure joy I couldn't wait to do it again. We made it our one birthday request, and had a fantastic day!

Josie's first ride request was the bumper cars, because last year they were closed and she couldn't do them. She was so excited, unfortunately she never really figured out the whole turn-the-wheel-one-way go forward, turn-the-wheel-the-other-way go backward thing. So she was stuck in a corner the whole time. One little boy bumped into her and she was very offended. I guess she didn't get the idea of it!

Obviously we couldn't do big rides like Wicked or Rocket, but there are so many rides Josie can do by herself and so many we can do together.
We did every ride Josie could go on at least once, and it took all day!

Josie and me on the train ride. It was nice to sit down for a few minutes!

I don't know why but I still love Merry-Go-Rounds as much as I did when I was a kid. There is something so classic and fun about them. Josie even picked for us to ride horses this time.

We decided that before heading to the water park we might as well get wet! Josie loved the Log ride and Rattlesnake Rapids. She usually hates getting wet, but it was a blast! We were drenched!

We had done rides from opening until about 4pm when we decided a soak would be nice. I don't remember ever going to Lagoon-A-Beach before. Josie and I enjoyed how relaxing it was. I had hoped we could do some slides but I guess you can't take kids on them so we just toddled around the lazy river and enjoyed our cotton candy! (Hence the blue teeth)

At this point we headed home so Josie could have a nap and we could get some dinner.
But by 7pm we were back and ready for more!

Josie loves this Dragon ride, even though I have to keep her from sliding right out!

She is the most patient person I have ever waited in line with! Besides Rattlesnake Rapids and the Log ride we never waited more than 5 minutes for any ride. And Josie didn't even mind the long waits. She was wonderful!

Up high on the ferris wheel! They turned on the lights right as we got on, Josie was so happy!

We stayed and did rides until they kicked us out. Josie was a trooper.

Our last ride of the day! Good thing too, cause Josie kept saying she was feeling sick on it. I guess we did one ride to many!

Can't wait to go back!!!

Downtown SLC Fun

Our group of moms went downtown this week. It was really fun to do kid stuff around Temple Square.
We met up at the Visitor Center and of course had to go see the statue.

I traded Todd for Josie's cousin Isabel on this outing.
Good idea! Todd had fun at Lea's and Isabel had a blast with us!

Josie and Isabel

Isabel, Me, Josie

The girls just wanted to play on the escalators while we waited.
This is seconds before Josie falls all the way down them.
I'm one of those moms that passes up the safety of my children for a photo. Bad idea.

Beautiful temple. I was fully expecting one of the kids to fall in the pool, luckily no one did.

I have never gone to the observation deck before. That was a cool sight.
26th floor of the Church Office Building. We skipped the tour of paintings and statues and church history. Didn't really think the kids would appreciate it. But they did love the view!

And looking West

Taking a snack break before going wild in the Church History and Art Museum

The museum has recently redone their children exhibit. It is super fun! Everyone got to dress up and dance! The girls couldn't be happier.

Josie decided she wants one of these in her bedroom. That would be pretty cool!

Isabel, Acea, Josie

You can plant a garden, and collect chicken eggs

These two girls were having way to much fun!

Isabel can really get her hips going!

Josie was desperate for someone to dance with her.
She asked all the boys in the room and they all said "NO" so I gave it a go.

After Acea saw us dance he changed his mind and tried it out with Josie.

And he's had enough!

Angel Moroni at the museum

After our group of friends left I took the girls to City Creek.

Of course we had to stop at the Disney store! (This was as much for me as for them!)

Kid Meals and play time

And finally the long trek to find our car and head back to Bountiful, Todd and naps.
It was a fun morning!

Natural History Museum

Today our playgroup went to the Natural History Museum in SLC. It was free today. (I'm still debating if free admission days are really worth it) There were so many people there today, it was crazy. Luckily my two kiddos were great and we had alot of fun. I can't wait to go back on a quieter, slower day. The Museum was much better than I was expecting. Their new facility is top notch and most of the exhibits were interesting.

Josie and Todds favorite place was the "Backyard" exhibit. Its a very small kid play area. I thought it was a pretty sad exhibit. Plastic animals behind glass walls, pictures of animals in the bottom of the water, and fleece vests sewn into animal costumes. Not very high end like the rest of the museum. But of course its the kids favorite place regardless because it is hands on.

Here is Josie in the cave where you cans see snakes, spiders and other bugs. (All plastic toys you can find at the dollar store!)

Josie and Todd in the Dino footprint

The Dino exhibit was by far the best in the whole museum.
Very cool!

Todd did not like walking on these glass see-through floors. But Josie and I
thought they were a really neat display.

So many dinosaurs!

Digging for bones

I always love to see the gem displays! Makes me want to go buy jewelry!
They had beautiful gems, but not alot of them.

(yes, we were allowed to touch this one)

Josie loved seeing all the butterflies

Todd did not love seeing any of it. But he was still pretty good.

I found the Lake Bonneville stuff very interesting and it was a favorite with the kids

The fact that they were skulls didn't bother Josie at all

Yes! We got one picture with all of us! Darn, its blurry.

Josie checking out the stars in the middle of the afternoon ;)

Back at the kiddie area before heading out

Josie and some of her friends, Lizzie and Katie, trying on the costumes.

Since Josie was a frog, she decided she needed to eat the bugs

And Todd thought he'd help too. Yummy grasshopper

After 3.5 hours at the museum we are headed home!
I think they liked it :)
